Coaching with Jo

Jo adopts a ‘unique 360’ Approach to Coaching clients at every level.

At the heart of Jo’s style and coaching philosophy, it is about being very open, honest, inclusive and friendly.  As a performance coach she is your cheerleader, mentor and challenger helping you to achieve your own goals and dreams.  Where ever you are on your riding pathway, starting out, returning after a break or moving up the levels of your chosen discipline, Jo can help you on the road to success.

Jo is renowned for her encouragement from assisting the most nervous rider to working with the more advanced. She is passionate about looking at riders from a 360 approach which takes into account a holistic view of all the factors affecting the equestrian partnership.

Working with Jo as your coach offers much more than a 45 minute session.  As your coaching relationship builds, Jo likes to keep in touch in a way which suits you.   She can help your progress via a variety of methods in her coaching toolkit, such as remote coaching online, goal setting plans, test riding online, developing healthy eating plans for competition riders and fitness plans.

Jo is passionate about rider wellbeing and encourages all her riders to adopt a self care practice which helps them flourish.  Jo advocates regular exercise and good nutrition to assist your riding partnership as well as Pilates to increase core strength, symmetry and stability. Jo is ‘Brand Ambassador’ for Pilates Gallery, such is her enthusiasm for a healthy lifestyle.   She is passionate about rider wellbeing and will be sharing some online videos for you to practice and join in at home in your own time. There some exciting plans for everyone she coaches, and new clients to help them on their competing journey.

Jo’s Journey

Jo set up the family run Swallowfield Equestrian Centre in 1995 with a dream of running a top class livery yard, dressage training and competition centre. Swallowfield has continued to grow over the years into now a “centre of excellence” for training and one of the only highly approved BHS livery yards in the area

Jo is committed to growing the business to meet all her clients’ needs and is highly focussed on providing the best experience for everyone who visits.

Jo studied 30 years ago at Moreton Morell College gaining a BA (Hons) in Equine Studies, then began building the business, competing, coaching and having a family.

Over the last 10 years Jo has invested more in her in her own CPD including gaining a BDCC Levels 3 and one of the first few UKCC Level 4 coaches in the UK. Jo was also selected for the BD Youth Coaching Pathway and is currently a List 3 BD Judge, looking to upgrade to BD list 3a.

Jo has competed successfully in Young Horse classes and at National Level throughout all the levels up to Inter II level and has trained horses from Prelim to Grand Prix. Jo enjoys producing horses slowly and correctly through the levels and has had help throughout her career from International riders and judges and is very open in her way of training and encourages her own clients to train holistically.
